It’s not the new engine that is making Mercedes win, it’s the controversial flexing rear suspension the team introduced in the last three races.
At the start of the season, Redbull had introduced the flexi-wing concept and then Mercedes copied them. Later, FIA banned the use of flexible rear wings. However, Mercedes found some ingenous ways of incorporating some level of flexibility in the rear axle.
That’s why their car is now achieving crazy straight line speed.
