HMD Kenya has brought the Nokia C30 to the Kenya market.

The device is part of the C lineup, which is essentially the brand’s budget segment. It features other phones such as the C10 and the C20 – both of which we have looked at.

The C30 costs KES 14490, which is slightly more than the said siblings.

Unlike the C20, the C30 has dual snappers following the addition of a depth sensor.

The cell is huge at 6000 mAh. the screen is also big at 6.8″, effectively making the phone a brick in the pocket at a weighty 237g.

That should not worry you, though, if you love battery longevity.

The rest of the specs are here:

To note, the price is close to what Nokia is asking for the G10, which we have also reviewed. It is a better phone on the whole, with a compact size, improved cameras, and a polished software experience as it ditches the lite (Android 11 Go Edition) found in the C lineup.

@Soprano explain nguvu ya chip

The cameras are deal breaker.

Why do pple still go for huuuuge batteries in a phone? 237g phone? Simu isipite 180g

This is basically a low end, sluggish CPU compared to Qualcomms of similar nm.

Africa is still classified as under developed that is why huge batteries are used as a marketing gimmick.

Similarly Blue Band was specifically designed for subsahara in that it didn’t need refrigeration and it’s salt content acts as a preservative. We are still living in the 1960s in their minds.

If I want an android phone that I’ll be with for a long time to come, I’ll go for at least 6gb ram

Nokia Android phones are a good prospect mainly coz they are one of the very few still under the Android One program. Anybody who has used this stock Android will tell you how great it is on battery consumption and RAM management. The icing on the cake is that your phone is also guaranteed 2-3 years’ worth of Android version upgrades!

The main deterrent from these Nokias has been usually small batteries and relatively poor specs in relation to the price. This one seems to have sorted the battery issue but some specs are quite discouraging eg the chipset, selfie resolution, screen PPI, RAM/ROM and especially the charging speed.

Its to avoid kucharge simu every 2hours. Mimi na full charge bila kucheza cheza inakaa over 30hours

Every 4 out of 5 Nokia users of any model, be it a budget or a flagship phone, are always complaining about one issue or another, most of them about lagging and hanging!

exactly
nimetumia Nokia 1, 6, and 6.1 plus… they hang

Btw, I still remember fondly the days a phone charge would last a week

weee unaeza fanya msee asikie kujinyonga banae

Nokia failed to evolve and embrace technology years ago and now its trying to play catch up. Too late though.

Only thing I like about Nokia phones is they are compatible with Faiba simcards

Nokias ya a problem with their emmcs. Sometimes even after a factory reset their phones say No Storage Space, this mostly happens after upgrading the OS from let’s say 9.0 to 10.

Very annoying. Rooting HMD Nokias a risky affair

I hope you rember that the Nyamgondho was the first to talk about the architecture of Unisoc chips here on ktalk.

HMG is toilet for now

Kama sio nyapdragon tulikubaliana unanimously hakuna kugusa.

make it 8gb if you buying after 2022 April

Useless chip rendering everything else useless

Nokia wanajaribu kuji redeem…we are balls deep in Samsung already
