Mumama mzungu wa patco ametoroka yeye akahamia Meru

Village contractor @Randy can you give us an estimate of how much it would cost to build such a house?

Watoi wako na jina za kimeru,

3.5 - 4m depending on the level of finishing… but the bedrooms sizes and positioning of cabinets stinks.

Naona closer to 5 considering the sitting room is big and the finishing is quite good especially the kitchen. I agree though about closets and kids rooms.

That is wrong. Mt Kenya customs say kids must be named after both mums and dads side. So the second born boy should have the name of the mums dad.

Merus are the most patriarchal tribe in Mt Kenya unlike the others.

If I was personally building it for myself I can do it 3.5m

As someone who is till building, this house is at least 8M. Remember, they have to transport all building materials from Nairobi or Meru.

If your wife is not a Mmeru, that rule doesn’t apply. Ata bibi yake anaitwa “Makena”.

8M seems a bit too much.

It’s good to see white people like these embrace Africa genuinely even wanting her kids to have a full quality of life. Murume alifanya kazi safi kuhamisha familia yake to the country side away from the ‘American life’ that I’d call tasteless.

Most certainly I would have thought so if I was not in the middle of construction right now.
