Msito Okis amesoma BBI na will vote for Yes

First mimi sijasomewa. Hata sijaona TV or social media to see what the analysts are saying. Nimejisomea mwenyewe though sijasoma in detail the way lawyer’s do.

Secondly, no constitution is perfect.

So why will I vote for BBI?

First let’s accept our politics divides us along tribes with the major tribal division being along Kikuyu/Gema, Luhya, Luo, Kalenjin,Kamba & pastoralists communities. Everyone wants to feel part of government but currently there is only the position of President & his deputy. In Nigeria it’s easy for them to rotate because their division is between Christians & Muslims (North & South). But here in Kenya we have 42 or so tribes. So even if we do rotation presidency, watu watafikiwa lini? The BBI solves this by expanding the executive to include Prime Minister & his Deputies. To me this is a win. Some will say it’s costly which is true but look at the bigger picture of how much our economy gets affected as we approach elections because of the tribal tensions.

Secondly the BBI proposes 7 year tax break being given to youth who start business is good. This will encourage people to start businesses without the monkey of KRA on their backs. The finer details of such proposals will come later.

Thirdly, counties will now get a minimum of 35% from the current 15%. There will also be ward development fund. This will definitely spur growth mashinani.

The BBI also talks tough about corruption. Implementing is another thing all together. But my personal view is that shida ya Kenya is looting. I was impressed with TNA 2013 manifesto on how to deal with corruption & that’s why I voted for Uhuruto. The fact that the anti corruption proposals will now be in the constitution and not in a party manifesto is a big step forward Deal with corruption and in 5 years you’ll see economic opportunities in plenty.

However, the BBI has some flaws too. We will have too many MPs.

Personally, I give the document a B+.

I will vote for it. Voting for it doesn’t mean I’m endorsing Uhuru, Raila or Ruto.

Even if you change the car model and still don’t change the monkey driver you’re dooomed.

Well and good.

Aingie twitter ya Uncle William amsalimie and quickly wish him good luck.

Kisha aingie Kenyatalk.com aone nani alimtaja jana usiku. Okay alright now to give them a piece of my mind.

We have the best laws, most advanced Katiba in Africa but we cannot implement it. What makes BBI so special that we will implement it fully.

You know what the only clause that will be implemented without blinking an eye is this one “expanding the executive to include Prime Minister & his Deputies” the rest will gather dust for eternity!

Mkubwa, hapa ndio naona kuna dangling ze e carrot, ndio peasants waumire kumira kumira thurakus style.
Niliuliza swali jana usiku (nikiwa kwa bar): Kama hii 15 para cent unakuwanga shida kupata, how about the 35 para cent?
Na sio eti kuna added new revenue streams. Ni zile zile.
The only sure revenue is additional taxes to the same Thurakus.

Creating positions is the main and sole agenda of the bbi… io ingine ni projo ya kuchocha raiya. The will implement it selectively.

We have one of the most progressive constitutions in the world. We have dozens of reports (Waki, Ndungu, TJRC etc) that have outlined solutions and laid down recommendations to resolve many of the problems we face in this country. Implementation and enforcement is the problem, not the document(s). So long as it’s the same old establishment at the helm you can be sure not much will change (for the common man).

What’s the problem in creating positions if every 5 years we’re fighting because of positions

Fuck BBI…Raila has been given a tough unsellable assignment, probably to keep him busy . This BBI will bite him in the ass the moment is rejected during referendum.
Uhuru has everyone in pocket,so whether BBi passes or not,his options are still open…

More money to counties means that some functions of the national government will move to counties. Money follows functions.

Mbona unashindwa na hesabu rahisi? If today I am giving you 15 per cent of 1000 you’ll get 150. If I decide to be giving you 35 per cent it doesn’t mean i will have to look for more money; It just means I’ll give you a larger share (350) and I remain with less.

The waki ndungu and tjrc are as good as party manifestos. Imlementation is not a must. But the constitution you can be taken to court if you dont implement. That’s why Uhuru is in court for failing to implement 2/3 gender rule as per constitution

You missed the point.
Remember BBI has created more functions so hiyo 1000 you are referring to is no longer 1000.
Alafu kumbuka kuna hii story ya 7-year tax breaks kwa yutman akianza job (na hii usually brings in some revenue)…sasa with reduced revenue streams and increased expenditure hiyo doh itatoka wapi?

Your reasons for wanting to vote for BBI doesn’t actually need referendum voting for implementation. All these you state only need parliamentary approval and government goodwill. Waende tu parliament waseme wanataka 7 day holiday for youth itapita na iwe in law, same with HELB even devolution waseme this year we’re giving 35% because they aren’t barred on the upper limit.
Now on the issue of expanded government, what you guys don’t get is that this proposal will give birth to the most imperial presidency seen in Kenya. The president can basically fire anyone, DP, PM Deputy PMs and even Judges and only needs an approval of majority of parliament.
It is also winner takes all. Why? winning coalition takes everything i.e. only baba would be an MP/leader of opposition after 2013 and 2017. No change whatsoever.

Multiplier effect of corruption and a ridiculous wage bill…[/QUOTE]

Just an FYI, when Kibaki was exiting in 2012 the public wage bill as a percentage of GDP was 12.1%. Last year it was 8.2%. A big improvement. Shida ya Kenya is looting. Not wagebill. These positions of PM and DPM being created cost a fraction compared to what we lose during elections because of tribal tensions.

Can the entire BBI, not just the few reasons I’ve stated be implemented without referendum? If yes, that’s even better.

Does the BBI say the president cannot appoint the prime minister and the vice president and the deputy prime ministers from the same tribe?
