KRA inataka kumaliza my Rentals

We are now under the mama mbogas government but KRA ni ule ule.

I have some rentals houses huku mashinani, mostly targeted at mostly KMTC students, who I charge them bei ya mkulima 2k per head for each room. So recently got a visit from KRA folks to my rentals, then later got sent an email to visit their offices.

Long story short, they’re claiming I’ve under-declared my income from my 12 hses and after an estimate, that I now owe them 1 million in tax since 2016!

I’ve been paying them 5,600 every month on regardless of other rental expenses/issues: low occupancy when school closes, students paying in bits, others packing their things and running away with rent arrears etc

No way hiyo pesa nitawahi toa but how’s the best way to proceed with this issue? Appreciate your time.

Shosh ya beshte yangu who runs typical village bar alikuwa anadai wa 800k na KRA. Stupid Cyber guys walimjazia wrong tax form. Ame reduciwa money now iko around 250k but still its alot

Just as advised, the only option you have is to negotiate.

They have records and system will continue calculating the penalty plus interest.

The other option is to pay under protest (awaiting review) or request for a waiver.

But as you pursue the options show goodwill and continue paying the small you can.

Their requesting receipts, Mpesa statements if I dispute the amount, but who keeps receipts in rentals where students are paying 200,500 in piecemeal.

KRA peeps just pull numbers out of their arse and come up with a huge fine so that you can negotiate to the number they want. Which rentals, esp students rentals, has 100% occupancy throughout the year . Hawa watu wanafunga vitu kwa matress usiku unapata nyuma empty na mtu ako na arrears ya miezi 2 smh

Tax tribunal court only works if you got detailed paper trail to back you’re claim
