Kenyan Christians we need to start praying earnestly for our country time is running out

By now any Kenyan and even foreigners know that election year in Kenya is a very dangerous time where alot can go very wrong, very quickly. This time round we have economic problems and a pandemic on top of the tension the high stakes political competition in Kenya brings.

Lemme talk of 2007 elections, as a Christian kuna vile God warns you. For me at the time I was so embroiled in the politics that I felt the euphoria of my side winning. I was very active on a certain mailing list that pitted PNU vs ODM. Before we broke for the holidays, I don’t know why but I sent my last message of clashes that had already begun in Kuresoi but were being blacked out by the media.

So we broke, we voted. I was the only person who voted ODM in my family and I was confident we were winning, so when things started going south, as a Christian I started praying for God to stop the blood letting and the destruction but things were just getting worse. I had alot of friends in worst affected areas. I would call them and hear the gunshots and the mayhem.

I couldn’t sleep at night so I was spending my nights praying and God’s spirit impressed upon me that a spirit similar to the one in Rwanda during the genocide had descended such that it was a kind of demonic blood thirst and spirit of destruction. So I asked God how when all along apart from Rift Valley we as Kenyans have lived in peace. God told me that when it’s election time there’s alot of forces of darkness especially sorcerers who come to the aid of politicians. God reminded me of the people who were betrayed by pastors in Rwanda and were killed inside a church. The very next day, the Kiambaa church burned with people in it. I panicked bcz I realized this escalation of violence may get out of hand like in Rwanda, so I was praying night and day but things were deteriorating and rapidly.

So again I enquiried of the Lord, we are praying night and day how comes nothing is improving and the Lord rebuked me. That I was too busy politicking to pray when there was a window to avert the crisis and not just me but most Christians. So I said, as a Christian I would focus on prayer than on politics.

Prayers are very important in this season. I would urge us us as believers to not politic at the expense of prayer. Put prayer at fore front instead of politics coz all a Kenyan needs is peace as when things are going bad, it’s that poor Kenyan suffering not the politicians jostling for power.

So my fellow believers now is the appointed time for prayer. When things go down hill it will be too late then to pray. Tuombee sana. Kenya has been peaceful throughout unlike our neighbors bcz many were praying. Let’s pray. Ni muhimu.

Kenya is beyond prayers :Dwe just live. watu kama Nganga ama Natasha ndio watawaombea you beyond help.
