I have a 1/4 acre plot about 800 metres from Thika road, just behind Zetech University Ruiru. Surprisingly it has a spring that never dries out regardless of the time of the year. Right now as the drought bites, water is still flowing.
My query is, Is sinking a borehole a noble idea or a well might as well be sufficient.
Are you sure there is no kanjo pipe that burst in your plot? Otherwise that plot should be repossessed and used for public good (just like the forest s).
hii swali ilikosa kujibiwa pale wazua sasa umeleta upande huu. my suggestion is, why dont u dig around the spring…you might be as well sitting on a mass aqcuifer which nairobi desperately needs for its endless rationing:p:p
Ruiru? even though in kiambu that area carries the tropical climate that is in Machakos. but if the land is on an inclination that just neighbouring sewerage sipping down as ‘clean’ spring of water.
Unapata maji vile hapo ni valley bottom. Otherwise it will dry out at some point or the water will be too little to be of any use. Uliza wakazi wa zamani hapo watakwambia ukweli.
Artesian/confined/Pressure Aquifer -when an aquifer is sandwiched between two layers of much less permeable material.
Wells tapping groundwater from these sources yield significant/dependable quantities of water.
Perched Aquifer-when groundwater body is separated from the main groundwater by relatively impermeable stratum of small areal extent and by zone of aeration above the main body of groundwater
Well tapping groundwater from these sources yield only temporarily or small quantities of water
