One thing though is US don’t build downtowns any more. They stopped doing skyscrapers eons ago. 30-40 years ago. They sum up concrete jungles. All cities in the US have grown too big. Nobody wants to drive to downtown for work.
Even in the new cites, they just repurpose sites that were industrial buildings.
If you want to compare skyscrapers, do it with Dubai. There you will be given a run for your money. The architects there are given blank check books.
downtown is city’s commercial, cultural and often the historical, political and geographic heart, and is often synonymous with its central business district.
