IED

In an incident yesterday at around 4:00pm a land cruiser ferrying 10 officers ran over a buried IED in Wajir County around Kotulo Patrol base, in the unfortunate but calculated plan two officers lost their lives while 8 are in a serious condition.
Anyone with more information kindly add.

Huwes skia such news… Coz it doesn’t fit their “narrative”

Pole sana kwa officers wetu.

You guys should work on your intelligence because few months back the same thing happened.

M

Maybe the enemy is within.

Utajichosha na explanations my friend save your energies for debates that actually require them!

It’s cool brother, like I told a friend here.
I’m not aiming for the crowd, just a few like minded individuals who will teach another and so on and so forth.

Location, location, location… The enemy hides within the local community who understand the area quite well.

Whether from within or without government should take seriously safety and security of it’s officers in such high risk areas.
Why continue patrols in useless Land cruisers?
We know money APC’s was eaten but that’s no reason to keep losing officers from predictable and identifiable incidents.

Pole sana kwao.

Hiyo job hata kama wasee hurusha midomo kwa internet, ni noma sana. Especially wasee huenda those terror prone areas.

Eunuch wewe na askari rungu afadhali rungu yenyewe

Like i care umbwa

You have a better option than cruisers?

The enemy has always been within.

Si amesema APC’s you stupid bonobo

Ngombe zile hutumia ‘si’ kabla kuongea huwa zishafungiwa saa hii.

Options ziko zaidi ya gari, na Ata hizo APC bado hulipuliwa na IED.

IED haitambui hata M1 Abrams Tank

Hii ndio definition ya vitu ni different kwa ground

May they Rest In Peace.

Yes we bought 30-40 APC’s for NPS, not all of them can be based in Wajir for patrols. We bought more for KDF and not all of them will be based in Wajir. Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu all have a need for them.
We need more for sure.

However the APC are not IED proof, better than land cruiser by far but IEDs can also take down main battle tanks. Its what type of IED and size. However that is not important, the big element here is the human aspect of it all. Alshabab has local supporters here. Financiers, Intel gatherers such as patrol routes specifically the cruisers and enablers to plant the device. That’s the big factor here. The cruisers are targeted and its not the first time. We will learn and adapt.

In Iraq and Afghanistan the enemy retreated to IEDs in the mid-term 3-7 years of the insurgency when they couldn’t field an fighting force for direct attacks. They are in decline and next year a big famine is coming.

Its sad and bad when we lose soldiers at border patrolling our territories but its also points to the fact that our borders have active vigilance to keep them safe and in control. They were targeted for doing their duty and protecting us. That makes them hero’s of the nation.
