We have a fully functional registry department that could have just been tasked with upgrading the current ID card. Clean the records and make it fully digital.
Why form a new task force to issue the so called Huduma number?
Government only reason for the huduma number is delivery of services. Which is a big lie! We all know the quality of service is not dependent on the number but the government staffs and their organisation. We have seen huduma centers improve delivery of public services. Even recently they introduced the booking of appointment system that even further improves efficiency of government services. And of course the eCitizen platform.

What do you expect when the advisors of government are Atwoli, Murathe, Matiangi, Kibicho, etc?
The government is the issuer of all documents that citizens need to do anything. DL, title deeds, NHIF, passport, birth certificate etc They can easily merge all the documents and tell Kenyans where to go pick their Huduma Namba card without having Kenyans stand in line to register.
But they can’t do that because that would not create an opportunity to steal taxpayers money. They committed over 7 billion shillings to the Huduma Namba project. It’s very much possible that half was stolen.
Kenya is not one of the most corrupt nations in the world for nothing. They estimate a sizable proportion of the annual budget is stolen

Holders of National Integrated Identity Management System (Niims) number, popular as Huduma Namba, will still be required to use their national identity cards (IDs) to identify themselves, Planning Principal Secretary Julius Muia has said.
Dr Muia said that Huduma Namba will not phase out the conventional identity card, driving licence, the National Hospital Insurance Fund card and other identifiers “in the short term” contrary to popular belief.
Though Huduma Namba has been widely marketed as a one-stop shop for personal identification, Dr Muia said that the utility will take long to be realised, without giving timelines for the short term.
“Young Huduma Namba holders will be able to access the national identity card easier compared to those without the number when they turn 18. The available database will have indicated that the applicants have attained 18 years and therefore have qualified for identity cards by the time they apply for the identity cards,” the PS said Tuesday.
He spoke at Kinyambu Market in Makueni County while monitoring the ongoing Huduma Namba mass registration in the company of Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim.
Huduma number’s sole purpose is rigging elections.
