Hamas threatens Israel with suicide bombings ahead of Ramadan

The Islamic terrorist group Hamas has threatened Israel with more terror attacks and suicide bombings ahead of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan that begins March 23.

“The desire to commit suicide among the residents of the West Bank is unprecedented,” the deputy commander of Hamas’ military wing, Marwan Issa, declared in an interview published on Wednesday.

The warning comes as Israeli security experts believethat Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) plan to use the Ramadan season to escalate violence and trigger a third intifada, a reference to the two previous waves of Palestinian mass-rioting and terror attacks against Israel between 1987–1993 and 1999–2004.

The Palestinian terror groups also seek to galvanize the jihadist sentiment across the Arab and the Muslim world by making false claims that Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque was under threat from Israel.

As Ramadan approaches, Palestinian terrorist groups have unleashed a wave of attacks targeting Israeli civilians and armed forces. On January, a Palestinian gunman murdered seven Jewish worshipers leaving an East Jerusalem synagogue.

Since then, Palestinian terrorists and Islamists have carried out a series of attacks. These attacks are followed by public celebrations in Hamas-controlled Gaza and the Palestinian Authority-ruled West Bank. Palestinians are seen handing out sweets on the streets, and holding processions amid the chants of “Allahu akbar.”
