Why does governor Kingi play second fiddle to Joho?
Is it a case of inferiority complex?
Kingi comes from the most populous community at the coast ie the Mijikenda who are domiciled in Kilifi but found in all coastal counties.
Kingi should marshal the Mijikenda numbers and ran with them.
Joho should be looking for him to form a coalition and bring whatever he has to the table.
Mandela come from a minority tribe.

Digos form the largest community in Kwale, but not a majority. Not anymore. The influx of Kambas, Europeans, and the growth of the Duruma in Norrthern Kwale and rural Swahili communities in Lunga Lunga has denied them a majority, though they are indeed the largest community in Kwale.
Which part of Mombasa are Digos a majority??? Not Likoni where today wabara (Luos ,Kambas and the likes) slightly outnumber them, and Digos are non-existent in the rest of the city because Swahilis and Arabs are a majority in Mvita. Literally no other community comes close because the minority are very diverse and fragmented. In fact, Mvita can easily be mapped out between Asian, Arab-Swahili and everyone else almost estate by estate.
Swahilis form the largest community( but not the majority ,they are only at most 30 percent ,but no other community is larger ) in Kisauni and Nyali. Most Mijikenda in Kisauni are Muslim Giriama rather than the majority Christian Giriama followed by the Chonyi and Jibana. In Changamwe, Kambas are the largest community followed by Mijikenda, who are Ribe, Rabai and Giriama. Digos are not there.

Zulus form 22 percent of Black South Africans. Saying Zulus are a majority is like saying Kikuyus are a majority in Kenya. You do realize South Africa has at least a dozen tribes
Giriamas are the majority among mijikendas.
From malindi all the way to mariakani.( very wide area) though a few Chonyis, rabbais and kaumas are in btw.

The places you mention, apart from Malindi are the interior of Kilifi and even there. For example, Giriamas are not found in places like Chonyi Hills nor are they common in Mtwapa. Because Mtwapa is close to Chonyi Hills, the majority Mijikenda community there and in Kilifi South are the Chonyi .
And you are mentioning urban areas. Giriamas are the most urbanized of Mijikenda. That is why they are found in Malindi, even though the Giriama Kaya is nowhere near that town However, go to the rural areas of Kilifi, large areas apart from Kaloleni Triangle formed by Mazeras Giriama and Kaloleni towns and its vicinity are not occupied by Giriamas. People forget many former Mijikenda Kayas like Ribe, Rabai and the likes are now actual towns.
Giriamas are the largest Mijikenda subtribe, they are however not the majority.
If I’m not wrong, it was between Amason kingi vs Ali hassan joho, who should be superior at the coast.
Since Kingi controls 8 subtribes scattered widely in north coast against joho 1-digos +(swahili, arabs and other small population settled there.)
Remember a good population of the northcoast 8 subtribes are also in mombasa. Unlike finding a digo in malindi or kilifi.
