Does this spell trouble for us farmers?

Kenya has an agricultural transformation strategy from 2019 to 2029 that seeks to move farmers out of farming into more lucrative jobs and have more Kenyans consume more processed foods. That this strategy seeks to shift production from subsistence to commercial production and the impediment to that is the community-owned land and public-owned land.

This is nothing about agricultural transformation but grabbing our land, controlling our food systems &enslaving us. It’s not surprising also knowing that Bill Gates is the largest private farm owner with almost 269,000 acres. What are your thoughts guys.

If wishes were horses and I became the president with Stalin like powers, I’d move all people out of rural areas into factory jobs in cities.

Say 50 to one hundred urban clusters with between 500,000 to one million people.

Farming ifanywe na 500,000 farmers each with an average of farm size of 200 acres.

Back to your post, why do you want Kenya to remain a peasant economy of peasant farmers on 1 acre lots ?

The trajectory for centuries has been people moving out of rural areas and farms consolidating as countries develop.

Farming doesn’t work like that. It’s a low margin operation to start. Only way you can forcibly create farmers is by fully subsiding their operation. That is have farming communes like ex-China.

So what happens to the illiterate farmer who has specialized in his craft and knows nothing other than substinence farming. Our elderly. Anything the government gets itself into spells trouble, we all know that. This is just land grabbing the corporate way

There’s no place for that illiterate peasant farmer in today’s world.

He is competing with well financed high IQ farmers on 1000 acre farms using million dollar machines. You think your peasant farmer in Nyandarua or Kakamega can compete?
Peasant farmers can’t guarantee a country’s food sufficiency.

Again, who says that lazima afanye farming? they can be more useful making roads or low cost houses.

Basically they’re trying to Americanise our eating habits.

With high processed food intake , lifestyle lethal diseases like cancer will dominate kenya .
