Dj's

Wadau… At what point should you let go of the idea of becoming a Dj and is it still a viable career hapa Kenya?

It depends on how good you are on the turntable, and also how good you are at networking juu gigs hazitajileta lazima ujitume.

If you don’t have networking skills, unda mix kali uangushe pale youtube I will watch and other people will notice your effort. I am sure ukiipost hapa kama link people will check it out wakupee opinions.

Find a way of getting the word out that you are the best DJ. Personal branding muhimu and be present on all social media sites to market those mixtapes. It won’t be easy, but labda baraka zako ziko hapo…

Thank you good Sir for a hopeful message. Sijaanza ata ku mix bado just ile feeling ya deep down if I did it I’d be great at it coz my music taste is quite good. But nikiangalia miaka na bado sijashika a good line of work vizuri nabaki ku wonder if it is a wise career path kuelekea uko with the ongoing hardships of raising a fam.

Job ya DJ ni kitu unaweza fanya as a side hustle. Kama ni main hustle that is risky. Pursue a marketable career and moonlight as a DJ.

Am DJ so hear me out.
In this industry it’s becoming crowded alafu some of this popular djs are not best on turntable ni venye wanajua a na managers na other Djs.
Example if mimi ni dj this club na wewe uko ingine n we are friends kukiwa na event unaniiita & vis versa. Mostly ladies djs hudinywa na managers or owners wanapewa gigs. Check some clubs they rotate same DJs from January to dec
Example quiver lounge
-DJ joe
-teeboy
-kaytrixx
-creme
-Tibz

Those guys one akicheza place expect the others to follow same joint. This is a cartel.

If possible try side hustles zingine hii DJ ikuwe part time. Unaona venye unpopular wenye hatuko kwa media tunaumia

Walai tena… wazi bro. Good luck to your mixxes, nitawajoin soon

True same names appear on roster pale whiskey river.
And where did Pierre makena disappear to…she used to be part of the cartel

Ako bado but age is catching up with them pierra ako 40 hawezi sherehe ya 3 gigs in a row zikifuatana. Si unaona Ata creme alisurender

Advice if you have not started going commercial. Invest in music & good quality music.

Oldskools make sure if you are downloading and upate highest quality ni 480 download 360. It have a reason I won’t explain at the moment.
latest music weka 720p kama uko na space weka 1080
Audio music usidownload huko waptrick na tubidy find good source like deezer, spotify or paid sites. Quality is the key.
kama uko na beshte ako kwa industry mkwamilie everywhere he goes hapo ndo utapata gigs.

Nimechoka kutype…
Anyway if you want good library ya round 750GB talk to me at a price. Good luck

Fanya kazi ingine, sahii tunaumia mbaya mbovu.

Btw which apk(best at that, cheap as well) can one use to mix videos then upload them on YouTube?

Madam or whoever you are. In djing there are few software to do the mixing.

Virtual dj- beginners favorite
Serato - professional favorite

There are others but not commonly used in Kenya eg recordbox

Video mixing mostly in Kenya is done using Sony Vegas software which is meant for video editing but Kenyan djs walipata ujanja yake.
Alternatively if you have turntables you can record video mixes from serato through third party plug in called mix emergency which can only be used by macbook users. Windows guys can’t use it that’s why most djs have MacBook for video mixing.

Note. Izi video mixes huona mtaa za Akina lyta have been edited using Sony Vegas those are not live mixes. So djs can be good in editing mixes but poor in live club performance.

This doesn’t work here son. You either say how it goes or you quit altogether

The same set of djs who have invaded Wessyde Lounge Kericho. Beshte yangu alikuwa huko hata hapati kazi kama headliner tena

the only DJ is I respect in Kenya in Stylez…He paid more than 20 songs in less than 5 minutes pale tribeka… i will never forget that day

inbosk me tuongee.

Begin it as a side hustle

then use your love of music to learn music ‘beats’ production

Otherwise hiyo career is overpopulated and many clubs don’t seem to value much quality of mixing…bora dj ako

Reasons for downloading 360p where 480 is the maximum is because when playing video on those club or media screens the video zinafaa kuwa full on screen. Check those old videos the got blank black sides on right and left the don’t fit screen end to end. So we stretch them in ratio of 16:9.
480p cannot be stretched in that ratio. So when downloading its either 360,720 or 1080p

There are even badder djs than popular ones in Kenya but because they are not in that cartel hawapati gig.
Example dj sankee, mad max, Rudeboy this guys wako fire but hawaonekani
But with time Kenyans are getting to differentiate good DJs juu ya Corona. There are guys wamejurikana juu ya ku cheza live on fb group who could not have been given a chance anywhere

This is exactly what I would have also suggested
