Maureen Musungu, the Strathmore University student who has been missing since May 21, 2021.

Strathmore University student Maureen Mung’ohe Musungu, 23, who went missing on May 21, has been found.

Her family said Friday that she was found safe and was taken to the hospital for medical checks.
Ms Mung’ohe left their Karen home in Nairobi on that day to meet friends in the city center.
According to her brother Morgan Ambani, she left home at 10.30 am and was to meet friends in town before proceeding to an undisclosed location.
The family has searched for her in places including Utawala, Embakasi, Athi River, Rongai, Gataka, Ngong, Karen and Ngong Road.

Maureen Musungu, a 23-year-old student at Strathmore University who has been missing for fifteen days has explained her disappearance.

Musungu told her family that she had been locked up in a male friend’s house, Athi river, for more than 2 weeks.

The man reportedly cut off her phone call connection and she was only given basic meals.

Police are hunting down the man who is believed to have released her on Friday, June 4, after her disappearance was widely publicized.

The student went missing on Friday, May 21, after she left her parent’s home in Karen to meet up with a friend.

The thrd year student has since left the hospital and was with her brother when we reached him.

Morgan Ambani Musungu, Maureen’s brother, indicated that she came home on the morning of Friday, June 4.

“We are now at ease that she has come back home”, Ambani affirmed.

Maureen went missing after a planned meeting with her friends. In the evening, the student’s phone went off after she told her mom she was in Utawala.

Three cases of missing persons have been reported over the past three months.

In May, an elderly man came back home after he was reported missing 57 years ago.

In April, the case where four friends disappeared after a lunch meeting in Kotengela, grabbed national attention.

Another missing person in Ongata Rongai, a 28-year-old woman was found dead in a bush on Wednesday, March 17.
