Its always interesting that those who don’t subscriber to a certain religious belief ridicule those that do but also in turn would expect unconditional favour from the same people they dismiss. For example RAT gives freely to mganga for those black magic but can’t stand anyone giving to the church. You will start hearing they want them to present KRA statement, bank statements etc to contribute offerings.
You will hear non believers call for a day of prayer on national issues yet even simple things like prayer routine are alien to them. Prayers are daily whether you are doing well or bad. You should just ask Christians to add your prayers item into their daily list.
The only reason someone will have an issue with churches now is because DP Uncle Ruto has being shown favour. They don’t understand why but its simple. He has been actively involved in Church since he first knew how to pray and sing the gospel when he was a young boy. From the day he led gospel choir as a boy to entertain nyayo, to CU in campus, to church crusades as a young adult, to being a traveling pastor with his young wife, to his political career. He kept all his church networks alive all these decades. Some of this current church leaders remember him candidly since the NO referendum vote in 2010. He calls on them regularly on his political decisions and political travels across the country. Wherever he is in any part of the country on any given Friday-Sunday he will have booked in advance visits to local churches. Before he traveled all over Kenya for political quest, he had done that to preach. He doesn’t need to introduce himself to the pastors, deacons, reverends, bishops, church leaders and Members. They meet regularly. Such long tested friendship and relationships last. It has not yet peaked.
You know the interesting bit is that DP Uncle Ruto hasn’t asked the Church yet to support his Presidential bid. No he has just asked them to pray for him and the nation. The response has been they have sort him out to come in person to do it. As he visited them in their Churches they want to come to Karen to worship and pray together. That list is very long, he has had to ask for patience from them many times.
Whatever makes Twangatwanga meffis believe that God is only for them??
