Art business

I once had an art platform on social media where I advertised various artitt’s work and got a commission if they were orders. I am now thinking of reviving it but in a different way. How else can I monetize it apart from that commission way. I was thinking of an art studio or art classes. I recently met a 19-20 yr old girl making millions by doing art. She sews or something like that on portraits. One goes for $4000-5000 and she ships anywhere. There is money here.

ever heard the term starving artist?

yes

self explanatory. for every millionaire 19 year old artist, there’s uncountable starving ones.

and unless you have connects to patrons or incredible marketing strategies, then you being a middleman is uphill

if your art is really good sell abroad,

I bought a piece back in 04, and gifted it to a client in Paris, today I can exchange the painting for my firm as the value is almost equal.

so here is what you need to do,.

get a copyright for all your paintings, and try and get your art to feature in those small small galleries especially in France, and as a start get a manager in France to help you break the market, but be keen on this contracts have someone really look into them,

if you want to break into the Kenyan market, I have bought several paintings from the national Museum, also tag Wambui Collymore, she hosts private art galleries which will be good for you,

Again we need to see your paintings, collectors are not on social media, another avenue will be Sarit and the Hub, talk to management and negotiate fpr space during weekends, and also as a start do a live painting. there, uta-kafunga,
Collectors we are very active on Sunday Morning amd Wednesday and Thursday evening.

otherwise, all the best, if you need help with the contracts come to my inbox will help you until you can stand up.

in kenya everbody is a broker …i suggest researching the field first , i want you to succeed so that others can follow…

If you are not the artist you possibly can only be a commission agent or reseller.

But what about digital picture / art frames ? You hang the frame on the wall and its fed digitally ; the art changes per hour, day, week or as you wish.

A sot of streaming service for art where the customer pays a subscription fee. And you pay the artist based on number of views or such other metric. Well, its not real art but art nevertheless . They are gaining traction elsewhere and would probably work here in institutions and some homes.

the client will own the frame?

The cost of the frame could be a barrier, so perhaps have a option of client owning it or you own it , provide the art and she pays the subscription fee. Art as a Service? Maybe you should conduct some market research and if feasible develop a plan on this.

I see this working in restaurants etc… in kenya . I will do my due diligence.

Yes the core target would be institutions for a start… Was Interested in the business and had done some preliminary research. All the best…
