2nd shot of Covishield :The Lord works in mysterious ways

So my second jab was due yesterday and when I did my research I discovered that there’s no vax left in hospitals and that government was waiting for the doses that were not used in machinane to be mopped up and redistributed as the 2nd dose plus some 200k doses from the DRC.

My cousin who lives in the US and had a flight for 1st June had asked my mom to see how to help her get her 2nd dose before she leaves. I am not sure if it’s a requirement. My mom spoke to her contact in the women’s church group who is a doctor or nurse and she hooked her up with someone from Afya House who’d help her get the shot, as we my mom, her mom and I waited for next week as even her sister who is a Dr at Aga Khan couldn’t pull any strings. My cousin changed her mind mind about leaving on that date so there was no urgency and she opted to wait for the mop up ones. I had told my mom that I want to get the shot before resuming work in June, so she told me to take advantage of the contact and go get the one my cousin was going to get.

So by 8am I left for Afya House where a guard told me to wash my hands and I told him it’s too cold then he said, enda tuu hata hukai kuwa na Corona LOL. I called her, she told me to go to KNH, National Lab center. It’s also blood donation center and has a branch of KEMRI. She hadn’t arrived by 9am when the vaccination exercise kicked off, I told the guard that I was coming courtesy of the lady, she told me, wait for her, she hasn’t arrived.

For the about an hour I waited, I even got a chair and I couldn’t help the irony of the last time where I stood for hours.

I didn’t know the lady, so I called her and she told me what she was wearing and I was at the gate waiting, one of the staff was near me and I asked him if it was her and I quickly followed her. Thankfully I had told the lady guard that I was waiting for her so she didn’t gimme any wahala.

She went in to change and I stood behind one of the 2 ladies giving Vax. She asked me whats up and I told her that I was there for the Vax and I was waiting for my contact. She asked me to show her my message for the date of next Vax which I did. She told me to sit down and I got the jab though it was a bit painful compared to the first time. I registered my details at the registration desk and headed home. I texted my contact to thank her and I prayed for a blessing for the kind lady who assisted me b4 my contact came out even though I kinda jumped the line. As they say, the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.

I have completed my vaxx and I am trusting God that I will not get any side effects, so far so good. I thank God for everything and especially for protecting us from this pandemic bcz vaccine prevents but God protects.

If you can make sure that you get your second shot as winter is the worst time to catch the disease and the next doses which will include Pfizer and Moderna will arrive in August.

Yesterday I learnt that a young female dentist succumbed to the disease suddenly. She felt very ill suddenly when she was leaving work, by the time she arrived at hospital she was pronounced dead on arrival. Please if you feel unwell kindly seek assistance as alot of cases I’ve heard of were of people who felt general malaise and ignored it only to collapse and die very suddenly. May the good Lord protect us and our loved ones. God bless our health workers and doctors who are so much exposed to the disease in their line of work. May God reward them richly.

Otherwise stay safe.

@Purple oops I did it again. It was easier this time though. Can’t blame me I’d have gladly paid for sputnik or pfizer but they denied private importation. After cursing I still succeeded to get dose 2 with zero side effects. How does that make you feel?

Dua LA kuku halimpati mwewe.
