2 Startup-worthy Business Ideas from a Gen Z-er

  1. Furniture and Electricals with AI.
Think of a coffee table with an LED display that can change color and turn on/off using speech commands given by you. Yes, like an Alexa or Siri but there’s no need for internet connection. Same for an LED bulb, switches and sockets, bubble walls… using modern Artificial intelligence technologies.

  2. CCTV cameras analysis using AI.
This is a web app that streams video from your CCTV and uses AI to detect persons, face recognition and identify crime as it happens real-time. If something happens, a notification is sent to a mobile app instantly with an image attached. This will help to prevent crime before it happens or as it happens. Good stuff.

But who am I, just a 22 year old product maker who none will trust with such ideas :). What do you think?

After umedetect crime inafanyika utado??? CCTV camera evidence is useless in Kenya

Umeoverthink. Ukiwa kwako hutadai kujua mtu amevuka wall na isikue false alarm. Ama kwa business iko na surveillance.

how will it detect someone’s face… what database will you use?

why do you want to detect people’s faces? Huku sio Hong Kong ama Beijing

You train it yourself by providing the faces of people you expect to detect

where will you get the faces from?

Pictures nah…

pictures from where? long story short, look for another project son but I am not discouraging you… look for something else because you don’t have a solution for that

Ideas kama hizo peleka Japan where people are willing to buy useless tech gimmicks in large numbers. Huku Kenya watu wanapambana na tumbo, pesa ya kununua AI watapata wapi?

you sound really stupid when you just throw in a buzzword ‘AI’ even when it makes zero sense in that context. Even at 22, I expect better from you man…

I would agree I gave little information about those two projects… feedback appreciated but not much valid

Hmm… why talk about context when you don’t have content?? Be smart… and respond responsibly next time

Not really useless, it’s like saying “Why do we have interior or fashion designers when we could just go with the basic styles?”. Or maybe it’s just a matter of what generation you swear by.

We’re not on the same page. If you ran a business and you would like to identify unknown persons in your premises, you’d provide face pictures of your employees so the system can mark them as known people. And get notified of any breaches by unknown persons if spotted by the CCTV. No need for human watch. You simply provide a zip file containing 6 photos of each employee. You get?

More like a table with a huge tablet /LED interactive screen .Ziko nyingi sana China and you can buy them on Alibaba . Curious Why wouldn’t you want your devices to have an internet connection and talk to one another ? Dont you want to access them when out of the house ? Not so smart

Sophisticated face detection algorithms for CCTVs already exist .There are cameras that can detect emotions and suspicious behaviours by reading facial clues . Supermarkets nyingi huzitumia sana

Dont assume vitu haziko just because you have never seen them .Fanya research kwanza . You think you are brilliant but ni ignorance inakusumbua

but you already know your employee faces… what if a burglar breaks in, will it identify them?

Ni upuzi tu .Most offices have biometric screening for their employees .Might be fingerprint ,facial or in rare cases retina scans .

First of all, nothing connects to the internet. Yes. Nothing at all.
Second of all, I did my fair share research. I know such CCTV analysis systems exist. Heck, Google and Amazon even have their own trusted systems. I never talked about inventing nor innovating anything. Such existing systems majorly focus on big companies, they aren’t cheap. And they take time to set up too. How about small business and homes? The majority actually. Alafu kwani, are you implying a startup should be dealing with bringing vitu haziko already in the market?
